TDI Enhanced Skills Specialty – Intro To Tech

The Enhanced Diver Skills Specialty has been designed for two reasons:

  • Primarily for recreational divers that want the most out of their diving, giving them the skills and knowledge to maximize diving fun and safety, while reducing stress and diver risk. As such the course can be taught on single tank only and goes to a maximum depth of 30m / 100ft.
  • The course is also an excellent introduction to technical diving. It is recommended that it be taken prior to undertaking technical training.
We use the same equipment as tech courses and cover many of the skills that are a necessary part of tech.
  • Skills will include:
    • Team building skills, precision buoyancy control, perfecting diver trim, refining propulsion techniques, improving underwater communication and optimising equipment configuration.
  • Academics will look at:
    • A review of key physiological subjects, effective risk evaluation, efficient dive planning, gas management and situational awareness.

Advanced Nitrox / Decompression Procedures

Tired of leaving those deeper dive sites after just a few minutes? The no-decompression limits will always be there but we can show you the equipment, techniques and skills required to dive beyond them.

The Advanced Nitrox / Decompression Procedures Program takes you out of the recreational field and introduces you to the realm of “Technical Diving”. Welcome to the dark side!

  • This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving.
  • The objective of this course is to train you how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of forty five (45) msw / one hundred fifty (150) fsw.
  • A heavy emphasis is placed on equipment redundancy, dive-planning and repetitive skill learning.
  • You will also learn more about the physics and physiology that affect us when diving.
Follow this link to the TDI course standards for full details of required course content. The four day course at Atlantis Tech includes a minimum of 6 dives.

TDI Extended Range

This course provides training and experience required to competently utilize air for dives up to one hundred and eighty (180) fsw / fifty five (55) msw that require staged decompression, utilizing Nitrox mixtures or oxygen.

  • Divers learn proper techniques, equipment requirements, and potential hazards to enable them to explore at this greater depth, even under the influence of nitrogen narcosis.
  • Taking this course allows you to extend your abilities at depth without the expense of helium dives, and to learn how to overcome the physiological and mental challenges of deep air diving.
Follow this link to the TDI course standards for full details of required course content. The course at Atlantis Tech includes a minimum of 8 dives.

TDI Advanced Wreck Course

This course provides training and experience to competently conduct advanced wreck penetration dives.

  • The course includes equipment configuration requirements, buoyancy, line laying and light use to allow the student to explore beyond the standard wreck penetration limits.
  • Over 8 dives you will learn how to plan for, and avoid possible hazards of penetration, as well as how to deal with problems when they occur.
  • An intensive skill-based course, you will undoubtedly come away feeling a more competent diver ready for your next challenge underwater.
  • Experience with double tanks is required for this course, this can be achieved by taking the Advanced Nitrox / Decompression Procedures course with us prior to the course.
Follow this link to the TDI course standards for full details of required course content. The course at Atlantis Tech includes a minimum of 8 dives.

TDI Trimix Course

The TDI Trimix Course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and / or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of two hundred (200) fsw / sixty (60) msw.

  • The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen / helium / nitrogen mixtures with no less than 18% oxygen as breathing gases..
  • This is your first introduction to ‘the door to the deep’, helium. Reduce your narcosis levels at depth, and thereby increase your ability to solve problems underwater.
  • Using helium has now also been shown to give us great physiological advantages over air, during our bottom time, as well as during the shallower stage of the dive.
The other advantage is being able to remember what we saw!

TDI Advanced Trimix Diver Course

The TDI Advanced Trimix Course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and / or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of three hundred (330) fsw / one hundred (100) msw.

  • The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen / helium / nitrogen mixtures as breathing gases.
  • At the pinnacle of sport diving, Advanced Trimix divers are able to explore places that few other humans have ever seen. You will learn to dive beyond the limits of air, and find out what really is in the depths.
  • Now accepted as the only way to go deeper than 60m, trimix breathing mixtures can take us to 100m without the risks of deep air.
  • As the highest accolade for a sport diver you will find the course challenges you mentally and technically – and leaves you with a real feeling of joining an elite group of people who are pushing diving forward, and expanding their horizons; whether it be to do with equipment, gas mixtures, decompression, or problem solving – you learn it all on this course.
